Grendon CE Primary School

Phil has worked with our school for over a decade and in a number of different ways, including whole school inset training, staff workshops, a keynote school conference address and countless, interactive workshops for pupils. Phil has been instrumental in helping to shift the mind-set of school leaders and practitioners around how children learn best and in shaping our school’s approach to curriculum design, with Ofsted praising the school’s curriculum, stating that it is making ‘an exceptional contribution to the achievement of all learners’. Phil’s partnership with the school has seen his immersive style of teaching permeate into our classrooms where exciting learning environments are defined by Ofsted as being ‘so stimulating that children cannot fail to learn.’

It is through the historically themed workshops advertised on this website that the most immediate and striking impact of Phil’s approach is seen.  The accuracy of the highly interactive workshops is incredible, drawing on Phil’s infectious enthusiasm for learning about the past and encyclopaedic knowledge of each period of British, European and World history. From the vast array of authentic artefacts and gripping narratives to the exciting learning experiences on offer – children are transported to another place and another time, truly immersed in learning.

Phil has a wonderful capacity to create truly memorable learning experiences, develop children’s curiosity and nurture a love of learning. With a recent shift in focus of the Ofsted Inspection Framework where the intent, implementation and impact of a school’s wider curriculum will be placed under increased scrutiny, I can think of no better reason to get in touch with Phil.
